A Black and White Anzac Day in Sydney
According to New South Wales website, Anzac day is on the 25th of April, which marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.
If you read the pages of history you will find that ‘the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC)’ was formed in 1915 from troops of the First Australian Imperial Force and the First New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
The troops were known as Anzacs.
TheDictionaryOfSydney tells you that “Their(Anzacs’) landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915, as part of a British and Allied campaign to capture the Gallipoli Peninsula and open the Dardanelles for the Allied navies, was the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during World War I. The significance of this moment, and the devastating losses of troops, led to movements to commemorate it.”
Sydney’s first Anzac Day proceeded on 25 April 1916. But you can still feel the same Anzac spirit even today.
People are clapping and cheering the veterans, their family members, officers — the atmosphere is charged with positive energy.
Here are some photographs from Sydney’s Anzac day march 2022
There are people on both sides of the streets to witness the Anzac march 2022..
..cheering and waving flags.
Some even saluting.
But to me the best part was seeing the participation from across the globe
Australians cheering for France
..for the Serbians..
..for the Koreans..
But the best part I found was this person cheering for everyone!
May it be the Australians..
May it be the Europeans..
May it be the Asians..
May it be the nameless..
..and unknowns..
They all stood up for a cause, they are all marching for a reason
And all of them standing and cheering came from various walks of life..
Found time and came here for a reason
It is for ‘The Fallen’
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We shall remember them.
Lest we forget!
